LEt's GO Tiki

I currently have guests so this will be a very quick one.  I wanted to share this lego tiki bar some creative person has made. It even lights up at night.

As brilliant as it is, if this tiki god's eyes lit up it would be spectacular!

Game of Gidget

I discovered this Gidget Fortune Teller Game before the comics but thought I should mention it as well.

It reminds me of a game a friend of mine had from this era that we would play as kids.  It was a girl's game and had something to do with prom or a dance.  Can't remember much else about it but I was captivated by it.

I would gladly give this game a loving home if anyone had one going spare... (she said hopefully).

To BB or not to BB

My obsession with Gidget (particularly Sally Field's incarnation) continues to grow.

I've just come across Gidget comics on ebay!  I wish I could own a copy.
Apparently, there were only 2 issues ever produced - both in 1966 and both currently up for sale on ebay.

The seller for the April issue has included an intriguing advert found within.  Not sure how popular BB guns were with teenage (or preteen) girls in the 60s but there seems to have been some kind of market.

You can buy this gem here.

"Cavern It Large"

Today marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Beatles first appearance at the Cavern.

Sadly, the original site was demolished (or filled in) in 1973 but a replica was built across the street.  I visited Liverpool a few years ago and saw a Hungarian Beatles tribute act (called The Premier Beatles) play in the new site.  It's an incredible shame that the original is no more but the replica seems to have done a good job of recreating the scene.

The dim lighting allowed me to pretend I was really there during those heady days of the Mersey Beat.

It was a great evening.

I will regale you with further Liverpool adventures soon - I'm off to watch a 'documentary' about people who were REALLY there 50 years ago.
